Privacy Policy

What we collect

When you join an event as a guest, SongVote collects only what's needed to run the room:

• Song requests and votes, tied to an anonymous random device ID stored in your browser. It's a random code — not your name, phone number, or identity — and it exists only so each device gets one vote per song.
• Optional shout-out messages you choose to attach to a request. The DJ (and, depending on the event, the big screen) can see them.
• Optional name, email, and social handle — only if you fill out the guest profile, and only what you type. You can also choose to opt in to the ChillVote community invite there; that's entirely up to you.
• Emoji reactions and volume feedback — quick, anonymous taps that feed the event's live hype meter and help the DJ read the room.

What we don't collect: no passwords, no payment card numbers, and no precise location. If you tip the DJ, that happens inside your own Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, or Cash App — SongVote never processes, sees, or stores your payment details.

How we use it

• To run the live event: show the request queue, count votes fairly, display reactions and the hype meter, and let the DJ see what the crowd wants.
• To build the post-event recap — a "how the night went" summary of top songs and crowd energy.
• If — and only if — you opted in, to invite you to the ChillVote community using the email you provided.

That's the whole list. No advertising profiles, no tracking you across other websites.

Where it lives & the services we use

Event data is stored in the event host's Google Sheet, connected through Google Apps Script. To make the experience work, SongVote also relies on a few well-known services:

• Google — Google Sheets and Apps Script store and move the event data; Gemini AI powers the DJ's co-pilot suggestions.
• Spotify — powers song search, so requests match real tracks.
• LiveKit — streams the audio to your phone at silent-disco events.

Each of those services has its own privacy policy (linked above) covering the data that passes through it.

Who can see your info

• We do not sell your data. Ever, to anyone.
• Your contact info (name, email, social handle) is visible only to the event host (the DJ) — unless you posted your profile to the public guest wall, in which case the name/handle you chose to share is visible to other guests at that event.
• Song requests, votes, and reactions appear in the event only under the song — never with your name attached, unless you added a shout-out yourself.

Your choices

• Share nothing: you can request and vote without ever giving a name or email. The optional profile is exactly that — optional.
• Delete your profile: the guest app has a "Delete My Profile" button that removes what you shared.
• Anything else — ask us to delete your data, ask a question, or raise a concern — email Ethan@IconAV.com and we'll take care of it.

Honesty note: this is a general, plain-English privacy policy describing how SongVote actually works — it is not legal advice. If we change how SongVote handles data, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Questions? Email us — a human reads it.
